The Playground Project podcast
Hi, it's Asma!
I'm thrilled to share with you all that I was hosted by the incredible Tonya Pomerantz on her heart-warming and inspiring podcast: The Playground Project: Puddlejump. Before we dive in, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to my amazing interviewer and share a bit about our fortunate meeting at Indigo/Chapters, Ottawa. We met on Aug 26th, where Tonya was signing her newly published book: Sex, Self-Esteem, & Sheer Stupidity (a must-read, by the way) while I was browsing for a friend’s birthday present. Sheer coincidence and her beautiful spirit are what started the conversation. It started with Tonya complementing my hair, and we ended up recording a podcast, about career shifts, passion, pivoting moments, and life journeys.
In this podcast, you'll embark on a journey through my life and career. From defying social norms to becoming the first female engineer in a Saudi Arabian refinery, my story is a testament to the resilience and determination we women have.
I’ll unravel my upbringing, the challenges I faced in a male-dominated engineering world, and the crucial role of mentors and sponsors. But that's not all – there's a twist. I’ll let you in on how my passion for cooking as a child, and my desire to create a food-loving community led to "Asma's Table," a unique culinary experience that brings people together, bound by their love of good food, excitement about the magic that happens in the kitchen, and openness to share.
You'll gain insights, wisdom, and inspiration from my journey. I believe that people enter our lives for a reason, a season, or a lifetime, and that everything unfolds in its own time- it is never too late.
So, let's jump in and discover the power of resilience and the magic of building a community through food.
Warmly, Chef Asma 🎙️❤️
